Along the trunk stand two of the four legendary stags described in the Poetic Edda, forever feeding on the tree’s leaves, representing the ongoing cycle of life and renewal. Though only two are depicted, they echo the presence of all four, Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr, and Duraþrór, tying the piece directly to the original sources.
