(Viking Related) Isle of Lewis Chess Pieces - Refrigerator / Fridge Magnets

Replicas of the famous chess pieces found buried in the sands of Northern Scotland in an area that was known as a Viking trading route. The original pieces were made of walrus tusk, most likely imported by Vikings coming back from Greenland or Iceland. Some of the various sets found included rooks who were biting the top of their shields, which is what the berserker Viking warriors were known for doing. The motif found carved into the backs of the thrones are identical to Viking artifacts known to have been carved in Norway and Iceland.

Description: Handcrafted and made from stone and resin and finished by hand and waxed.

This famous chess design was also featured in the first Harry Potter movie and the original pieces are now located in two separate museums.
