Smaller Isle of Lewis Chess Set - Irish Limestone

Includes a stunning playing board (also made of limestone)! While these pieces are smaller than our other limestone sets, they still have that nice heavy feel to them.

The original artifacts were carved from walrus tusk and found buried in Northern Scotland where a Viking trading route existed.  In the early 1800's, a written description of these artifacts tells us that some of the pieces were originally a dark, vivid red, believed to have been stained by soaking them in ox blood. 

32 Playing Pieces:  Made in Ireland out of Irish limestone.
Approx. Height of King: 2.2" (5.5cm).

Included Chess Board: Made from Irish limestone, 12" (30.5cm) x 10.5" (26.7cm).
