Note: These rings feature the Norse 'Elder Futhark' alphabet. Historically the Vikings actually began using the 'Younger Futhark' alphabet around the beginning of the Viking Age, whereas their ancestors used the Elder version for nearly a thousand years beforehand (and what is featured on most of the ancient runestones). Thus, the Elder Futhark still represents the history of the Norse and also translates better to the English language. Likewise, just as we can still translate Elder Futhark today (1000 years later), common sense tells us that many of the Vikings were able to as well.
