Torc Necklaces

Viking Torcs

Also known as torques or neck rings, torcs have been worn as early as the Iron Age. Based on archaeological findings, torcs were popular with the Romans and then became popular again during the Viking age with both the Nordic and Celtic people. Some torcs featured terminals at the ends featuring designs or animal heads, while other torc necklaces would hook together in the back, as seen in this image of the Hoen Viking artifact hoard found in Norway.
