The solar or sun cross—sometimes called the pagan cross—is one of the oldest known symbols, appearing in Neolithic and Bronze Age Europe as a circle divided by a cross. It is generally interpreted as a solar emblem, representing the movement of the sun across the sky and the four cardinal directions or seasons. Handmade in Europe from (bow hunted) deer in Scandinavia.
