Raven Penny - Viking Coin Replicas
Wulflund
Available in Pewter or 925 Sterling Silver!
These are replicas of a Viking coin (also known as the 'Viking penny') that was based on a Viking ruler at that time named, Anlaf Guthfrithsson (circa 939-941). He was the leader of Dublin and Viking Northumbria in the 10th century.
The term ‘King Anlaf’ in Old Norse and is one of the earliest surviving texts in this language. The use of Old Norse language instead of Latin coupled with the raven image, associated with the Norse god Odin, is a strong indication that the Vikings were declaring their independence in the British Isles.
A great addition for a Viking reenactment table / display.
