Tafl (Old Norse: Table / Board) games were extremely popular with Vikings. There were numerous variants, however "Hnefatafl" became the preferred option in Scandinavia by the end of the Viking age. Hnefatafl game pieces have been found in numerous Viking grave burials. Easy to learn and fun to play!
Set includes:
A printed set of rules.
37 playing pieces (ivory and dark red) made from hydrostone, with felt bottoms.
Bottom 'base' size of smaller pieces: Approximately 5/8" x 7/8".
Approx. height of king: 2-1/4" (5.7cm).
Board Options: An engraved solid wood playing board 11.625" x 11.625" (29.5cm x 29.5cm). Available as flat or our deluxe (stiffer) raised option.
